It uses 4 squares and 4 rectangles. 2 of the squares need to be slightly smaller than the others for the inserts and 1 of the rectangles slightly larger (both directions) for the lid. The inserts are hot-glue on the bottom and tacked on the top with yarn. We have a group of 20+ girls so it was a big undertaking, but the majority of them were able to finish it that night.
Hi! I love this idea! I want to do the same activity with our girls, but I was wondering where you found those plastic pieces and what they are called?
ReplyDeleteFun! It's called "plastic canvas" and we bought 8x10" sheets and cut to size. You can get them at any craft store.
DeleteWalmart have that as well too
DeleteSorry to bug you again, but what were the approx measurements for each box? We have over 20 girls too and I was wondering how many sheets of the plastic canvas you would need to make 1 box. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHi!!!! I want to do these for my kids! So funny that I would see you on one page I chose looking for ideas !
DeleteI think it took a little over 1 sheet per box. I counted out the squares... the sides were 19x19, back/front 19x34, inside dividers 18x18, bottom 20x34, lid 21x35
ReplyDeleteDid you sew in the dividers on the inside or glue them?
